Spear

Kontarion mikron. Reconstruction of lancelike spearhead from the Great Palace of Constantinople, dated 2nd half of 12th century (probably the last quarter). Forged by hand. Dimensioning in compliance with the original. Ash shaft.

The kontarion was used in the Byzantine army by both infantry and cavalry1. Short spear was about 2,5-2,8 m long.
