A bag modelled on a numerous Byzantine iconography. Made of vegetable tanned cattle leather, hand-sewn with a linen thread. Closure on a button being  a reconstruction of numerous monuments, i.a. from the Byzantine Museum of Chersonesos, dated 9-14th century. (A)

It was mostly an attribute of wanderers, merchants, beggars or shepherds. Besides leather bags also textile ones can be found. A very similar monument was discovered in Egypt, however, without an exact dating.
